Mark‘s family and house
Say to the owner of the house
he enters, 'The Teacher asks:
Where is my guest room, where I may
eat the Passover with my disciples?'
He will show you a large upper room,
furnished and ready.
Make preparations for us there.
Mark 14:14,15
Mark’s house was big within
the Jerusalem wall; and the
family seemed to be wealthy,
good people and big family.
So was his cousin Barnabas.
The family did not seem to be
powerful as religious or political
leaders.
Their business might have been
trading abroad or merchantile
or to be land lord.
Jesus the young carpenter from
Galilee was drawing all hope as
Messiah from people everywhere in
Judea; so the authorities of religion
and politics were threatened by.
Such leaders were implementing
their devices of harming people
following Jesus.
In such an environment
Mark’s parents allowing
Jesus and his 12 young men
disciples to come into their house
and have a passover dinner was
a courageous decision for them.
It was impossible unless they
believed in Jesus as Savior and
kept his teachings.
Although Mark’s parents are not
known much it is for sure they
were filled with the Holy Spirit
during the Pentecost and offered
their lives to Jesus and house as
the First Church.
They must have been praying
parents during Mark’s struggling
spiritual growing to be
an important God’s worker;
especially cousin Barnabas
nurturing finally made him succeed.
It is not surprising.
God always works his great loving
work for men through such people
as Mark’s family.
May is called queen of season,
month of love.
In May are children’s day whom Jesus loved
especially, parents day, couple’s day, family day,
missing children’s day and labor day in Korea.
All these are for people.
The love of God who admires people so much
that he blesses all of them with natural blessings
and he so desires them to love each other,
be happy and prosperous.
God’s love is like blowing the silky May wind.
Love gives us joy, strength and awakens all
my dream and potential. God loves me so.
What is love?
