Reason to live

If I must boast,

I will boast of the things that

show my weakness.

The God and Father of the Lord Jesus,

who is to be praised forever,

knows that I am not lying.

In Damascus the governor under

King Aretas had the city of the

Damascenes guarded in order

to arrest me.

But I was lowered in a basket from

a window in the wall and slipped

through his hands.

2 Corinthians 11:30-33

Escaping in a big basket through

a window of city wall is not only

humiliation but dangerous for

Apostle Paul.

But he had a reason to live.

He had to finish to tell the news of

eternal life of Jesus Christ to

those who entrusted with him.

The 2 Corinthians is the Apostle Paul's second letter to the 

Corinthian Churches. Letter is the most intimate and personal.

Two thousand years ago, the Corinth city in Greece reminds

us today's New York city. The Corinth seaboard city was

then a center of trade, merchandize, wealth and luxury.

Also there was the Venus temple which led people not only

to moral deterioration but also sexual disaster.

The original location of Humanism, which against Creator God

and focus on human, the Corinth city in Greece lay in

spiritually formless, empty and darkness.

Here by God's mercy small lights began to shine. They were the

Lord Jesus' house Churches. They belong to the low social class.

Envious and jealous devil attempted to destroy God's

House Churches by questioning Paul's integrity and Apostleship.

And it caused to delay and complicate the promised loving

collection as well for the poverty stricken Jerusalem church.  

It was the process of the life giving Gospel to us, and it

continues so. How beautiful are the feet those who

bring good news !
