So am I
To my shame I admit that we were
too weak for that!
What anyone else dares to boast about--
I am speaking as a fool--
I also dare to boast about.
Are they Hebrews? So am I.
Are they Israelites? So am I.
Are they Abraham's descendants?
So am I. 2 Corinthians 11:21,22
Apostle Paul was somebody that
any parents desire their children to be.
In contemporary terms he had
8 Ph.Ds from Ivy leagues, was
wealthy aristocrat, religiously ardent
with fervor for justice and
possibly congressman as lawyer.
He sure had a promised future although
seemed to be not hansom looking.
Once Jesus came to meet him,
he regarded all his fortunes as excreta.
Knowing Jesus Christ is superbly
precious to him.
Now he had to unwillingly reveal
himself when his authenticity of
apostleship was suspected from
those whom he brought to
the eternal life of Jesus and nurtured.
To let Jesus to be known,
his life was dealt like a scum of
this world.
The 2 Corinthians is the Apostle Paul's second letter to the
Corinthian Churches. Letter is the most intimate and personal.
Two thousand years ago, the Corinth city in Greece reminds
us today's New York city. The Corinth seaboard city was
then a center of trade, merchandize, wealth and luxury.
Also there was the Venus temple which led people not only
to moral deterioration but also sexual disaster.
The original location of Humanism, which against Creator God
and focus on human, the Corinth city in Greece lay in
spiritually formless, empty and darkness.
Here by God's mercy small lights began to shine. They were the
Lord Jesus' house Churches. They belong to the low social class.
Envious and jealous devil attempted to destroy God's
House Churches by questioning Paul's integrity and Apostleship.
And it caused to delay and complicate the promised loving
collection as well for the poverty stricken Jerusalem church.
It was the process of the life giving Gospel to us, and it
continues so. How beautiful are the feet those who
bring good news !
